Roommate ads should have some basic information, but we suggest making them as unique as you or the person you are supporting is! It can really spark potential roommates to get in touch when they learn more about you and they relate to the information you have included in your ad. A brief sentence or two often doesn’t share enough information to generate much interest, especially if you are looking for a roommate that might share support or be a friend to you or the person you are supporting. Here is some key information to include:
- Location (If known, only share the general area)
- Any particulars you need in a potential roommate i.e. Consider gender, dynamics, or deal breakers that you wouldn’t consider in a housemate
- What support you might have and if you want to share support
- A bit about you and your interests
- General traits of people you get along with
- Contact information
- If there is a place already, include details like price, closest intersection, and any supports currently in place (especially if they are live in support)
